Why SSL/TLS is most important in cPanel? #
SSL/TLS is a must whenever sensitive information such as usernames and passwords or payment processing information is being transferred.
The goal is to make sure that the person or organization that the uploader intended can access the data that’s being transferred. This is important when you think of how many devices and servers the information is transferred between before it reaches its destination.
Steps to check the Status: #
- Login to cPanel
- Under security, section click on SSL/TLS status
This interface will show you the list of the domains under the cPanel account the details of the certificate installed. It will show all the domains including the sub-domains etc. There will be a symbolic representation of the certificates installed. It will show lock symbols to describe the certificate. A self-signed certificate show one lock and the trusted authority is shown more locks.
The next column describes the type of certificate ie. if it is a self-signed certificate, it will be stated there. It will also show additional details like the certificate expiration date and if it will be renewed by the cPanel Auto SSL.
You can also view the certificate installed on this page and also install a new certificate from this interface.
Next window of installation browsing the certificate, click on the “Install Certificate” button.
This is how we can use SSL/TLS status from cPanel to view the status of SSL certification on the domain.
