How to manage API tokens in Cpanel

Manage API Tokens

API tokens give you permission to view and change the data without logging in to the Cpanel interface. You can issue API tokens to the other users to perform the API functions with your account data. Using manage API tokens you can list, update, change and revoke the API tokens.

If you never created API tokens before then you will see the create API token window. And if you created API tokens before then a list of API tokes will see. Here are the steps to create the API tokens.

Step1: Login to Cpanel and go to the security section. 

Step2: go to manage API tokens and click create. The create API token interface will appear.

Step3: enter a unique name for your API token.

Step4:  select the API expiry from the following options.

  • API token will not expire – the API token without the expiry date.
  • Specify expiration date – this token has a specific date of expiration. You can add the expiry date for the API.

Step5: click create, then a new window will open.

  • Copy the API token and save it in a safe place. You have to enter this token each time that you use it.

Step6: Click Yes, I Saved My Token

  • If you want to create a new API token then elect the Create another token after I click Yes, I saved my token checkbox.
  • Otherwise select Click Yes, I Saved My Token

  • API tokens table displays all API tokens list that you have.
  • You can access all the tokens, click and select how many tokens you want to display.
  • You can perform the revoke function from here

Step1: select the tokens you want to revoke from the checkbox.

Step2: click the revoke button, a confirmation message will appear.

Step3: click revoke selected API tokens, tokens will be revoked.

    • The API tokens table contains the following options
      • Token name: this field contain the name of the API token.
      • Created date: this field contains the creation date of the API token.
      • Expiry date: This field contains the expiry date of the API token.
  • Manage: by clicking manage you can manage API tokens, you can rename the API token and revoke the API token.

  •  Rename token

                   You can change the name of the API token here. Then click update.

  • Revoke token

                   You can revoke the token from here also. Steps to revoke API token

                  Step1: Click Revoke. A confirmation message will appear.

                  Step2: Click Yes, Revoke the Token to revoke the token.
